Vytran Releases New Optical Fiber Stripper

January 04, 2012
Morganville, New Jersey, January 4, 2012 – Vytran, an innovative supplier of optical fiber splicing and processing solutions, introduces “SAS-400,” an optical fiber stripper that uses hot sulfuric acid to remove the protective coating from a fiber while maintaining the fiber’s intrinsic strength. Vytran will show SAS-400 at the Photonics West 2012 exhibition from January 24th through the 26th and at the associated BiOS exhibition January 21st and 22nd at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, California.

“With our new SAS-400 optical fiber stripper, Vytran has leveraged the proven concept of its predecessor, SAS-200, but with an increased emphasis on use in manufacturing,” said Jean-Michel Pelaprat, Vytran president and CEO. “We’ve embedded some major improvements in the SAS-400—it’s easier to use, more robust, features an intuitive graphical user interface, and enhanced operator protection.”

SAS-400 is an automated system intended for use in sensing, medical, telecommunications, aerospace and research applications. It can remove a variety of coating types, including acrylate and polyimide. SAS-400 can strip a fiber section up to 40 millimeters long. It can also be used to center strip a fiber, making it useful for fiber Bragg grating manufacture and for metalizing fiber sections.

Vytran will show SAS-400 at Photonics West booth 611 and at BiOS booth 8611. For added convenience, attendees can schedule appointments to discuss their unique fiber processing needs by contacting Jim Stathis, Vytran sales manager, at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) or by emailing .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).
