Vytran Introduces Compact Semi-Automated
Optical Fiber Splicers
Morganville, New Jersey, January 19, 2012 – Vytran, an innovative supplier of optical fiber splicing and processing solutions, introduces two new optical fiber splicers, “CAS-4100” and “CAS-4100-P.” CAS splicers are designed to provide high-performance splicing capabilities from a compact, semi-automated, easy-to-use system. CAS-4100-P is tailored for polarization-maintaining (PM) fibers. CAS systems are intended for fiber laser, aerospace and defense, telecom, medical, sensing and research applications.
“We’ve developed our CAS-4100 and CAS-4100-P splicers with customer feedback in mind,” said Jean-Michel Pelaprat, Vytran president and CEO. “These high-value systems offer an overall package that is simple and small, yet they produce the low-loss, high-strength splices typical of filament fusion technology.”
In both CAS-4100 and CAS-4100-P, all system components, including the computer and large display, are embedded into the splicer to form a single unit. This unique design makes CAS systems ideal for use where space is at a premium—either as a tabletop tool or integrated directly into a workbench.
CAS systems also feature new software with two easy-to-use, intuitive, graphical user interfaces (GUIs). One is a simple GUI for production operators. The other is a friendly, yet comprehensive interface for process development. CAS splicers feature USB and Ethernet ports to allow external splice control and data export for statistical process control.
Vytran will demonstrate a CAS-4100 system at the Photonics West 2012 exhibition from January 24th through the 26th and at the associated BiOS exhibition January 21st and 22nd at Moscone Center in San Francisco, California. Vytran’s Photonics West booth is 611 and BiOS booth is 8611. Vytran’s director of technology, Dr. Baishi Wang, will also give a presentation on CAS-4100 at Photonics West on Thursday, January 26th at 1:30 pm in the South Hall.
