The PTR-200-MRC module restores a flexible protective polymer coating to a fusion spliced section of fiber. Vacuum V-groove fiber holding blocks are used position the fiber at the recoat station. A split quartz recoat mold is manually closed around the fiber to form the mold cavity. 

The standard recoat mold size on the MRC module is 260 microns (mm) for nominal 250mm coating. Custom recoat mold sizes are available from 200mm and up.

Manual Optical Fiber Recoater with Automatic Injection

 
The recoat mold assembly and the V-groove inserts can be replaced to accommodate different fiber diameters. The maximum recoat length is two inches (50mm). The PTR-200-MRC replaces Vytran's RC-100 fiber recoater and has an added feature - an automatic injection system that dispenses the recoat material directly from the bottle into the mold.
